Lecture by Yulia Patrakova:

After October 7th: How Pablo Picasso teaches us to look upon the war

Modern artists do not work in a vacuum. They engage in a dialogue with classical paintings, and the theme of war is no exception. We will discuss how Pablo Picasso’s “Guernica” changed our perception of war and how this work influenced Israeli artists coping with the October 7th tragedy.

Yulia Patrakova: Lives in Jerusalem, creates educational programs with an emphasis on Jewish history and culture. Her area of expertise is 19th-20th century art.
