Klezmer Music – lecture in Russian

Thursday, 5.9 // 19:00 // Past Event

How Klezmer music inspired classical and contemporary composers – a lecture in Russian by Anna Vilenskaya.

Jewish and non-Jewish composers alike have drawn inspiration from Klezmer music in their work, such as Shostakovich and Schoenberg, who consciously used Jewish culture as reference, and acknowledge its contribution. However, there were others who seemed to do so intuitively, without a clue as to what musical influence they were using.

Anna Vilenskaya is a musicologist, lecturer, and researcher of contemporary music.

The lecture is held in Russian.
