Israel and Tamara Aharoni and the family dishes passed down from generation to generation
- 19:00 Following the Silk Road: a special guided tour at the museum
- 20:00 Event with Tamara and Israel Aharoni – Bnei Zion Hall
Is there such a thing as “authentic food”? Do family dishes really pass from generation to generation? As part of the “Family Food Stories 2025” series of events, chef Israel Aharoni and his daughter, Tamara, will talk about the evolution of Jewish food, and their family’s food as well.
“Dishes pass between generations and keep their DNA, but our food is in constant motion, it migrates and evolves by its very nature. Each generation changes and refines according to time and place,” says chef Israel Aharoni. 40 years worth of cooking and travel have given Aharoni the ability to look at Jewish cuisine from the distance of time. In a fascinating one-time event, he and his daughter, Tamara, will talk about the evolution of their family foods – and, actually, the foods of us all: about ingredients that have changed, about techniques that have become obsolete, about flavors that have developed, and about the fusion that is continually taking place in modern Israeli cuisine.
The event and tour are held in Hebrew
Please note: we will hold a guided museum tour following the Silk Road at 19:00, which is included in the museum’s cost of admission. The number of places is limited, so when ordering tickets, please indicate if you would like to join the tour.
