Rare Hebrew Manuscripts, Part 4 (Lecture in Russian)

Friday 4.4.25 // 10:00

A lecture by Prof. Shimon Iakerson – in Russian.

We continue our journey into the world of Jewish manuscripts. The 4th lecture is dedicated to unique collections that were formed in the Karaite communities of Crimea, and due to tragic historical circumstances became part of the state collections in Moscow and St. Petersburg. The fascinating fate of individual books and entire collections, alongside stories of collectors and researchers who managed to preserve them, will be the focus of the meeting.

Professor Shimon Yakerson is a Doctor of Philosophy and Literature, an independent researcher, historian, orientalist, and expert on medieval Jewish manuscripts.

Following the lecture, a guided tour of the museum in Russian will be held, with Lena Smirina.

Kindly note: On Sunday, 6/4 the museum will be closed | The Codex Sassoon gallery is closed until 7.4
